British Gas and EDF set to increase prices

Customers of both British Gas and EDF are set to see their bills increase from 1st April after the energy regulator, Ofgem, recently announced that the price cap had been increased, with other energy firms almost certainly set to follow suit.

The increase will affect anyone on their gas and electricity provider’s standard tariff.

This week British Gas and EDF said customers’ bills will rise on average 9%, or £97 a year with bills for big-consuming households will rising significantly more.

Customers on standard tariffs are free to leave at any time with many households being able to save over £100 each year by switching to a low-cost provider, or even less by locking into a new deal with their existing supplier.
