The Rotary Club of Swindon North and Thamesdown has donated two Emergency Bleed Control Kits to the Owen’s World charity, with both kits now installed and accessible 24/7 in Swindon.
The lifesaving kits are located at:
-
Haydon Wick Parish Council Office, Thames Avenue
-
The Croft Sports Centre, Old Town
When a serious incident occurs, blood loss can be fatal within three to five minutes. The kits provide vital equipment for immediate care before emergency services arrive, helping to save lives in critical situations.
Rotary Club Secretary Richard Goddard said:
“Standing ready for any serious incidents, the kits are in unlocked cabinets outside the Parish Council building in Thames Avenue and on an outer wall at The Croft Sports Centre so they are accessible day and night, every day of the year.”
The initiative is part of a wider campaign to combat knife crime, inspired by the tragic death of 18-year-old Owen Dunn, who was fatally stabbed in Mazurek Way, Haydon End, Swindon, in December 2023. His family and friends launched Owen’s World, a charity dedicated to creating a safer future and raising awareness about knife crime.
More details, including other kit locations, can be found on the Owen’s World website and via the Rotary Club’s campaign page Combating Knife Crime for a Safer Future.
