Beautiful and Touching Remembrance Display to be Revealed at Local Hospice

Prospect Hospice is set to showcase a breathtaking remembrance display featuring a thousand handcrafted roses in September, with each rose carrying a heartfelt dedication in memory of someone special who has passed away.

The moving installation will be unveiled in the serene garden of Prospect Hospice during its annual garden fete on Saturday, 9th September. Families are warmly welcomed to visit the display, which will be open for free to the public in the charity’s garden in Wroughton from Saturday, 9th September, to Sunday, 1st October.

These meticulously handcrafted roses are available in four different colours, and a suggested donation of £30 is encouraged for each rose. Carolyn Bell, the hospice’s director of patient services, expressed, “The installation is a special way for the community to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones who are no longer with us”.

“We are looking forward to sharing our ‘Remember Me’ roses display featuring a thousand handmade, recycled, metal roses – and what better place for it to be held than in the hospice garden before people take them home. The display will be stunning and incredibly poignant – it’s moving to think each one has been dedicated in memory of someone across Swindon and north east Wiltshire.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who has supported this so far and the donations will mean we can continue to provide vital care for local families. Even if you have never experienced hospice care, this is a wonderful way to cherish the memory of someone special. It’s not too late for you to be part of this installation by dedicating your own rose in memory of a loved one, just visit our website to find out how you can take part.”

Following the conclusion of the display, those who have dedicated a rose will be able to retrieve it, keeping it as a treasured keepsake in their home or garden, serving as an enduring tribute and memorial to their dearly departed.

Among the supporters of this initiative are sisters Sara Osbourne and Samantha Easterbrook, who will be dedicating a rose in memory of their beloved mother, Angie Garrett.

“When mum became ill, it had such an impact on all of us, but Prospect Hospice gave such amazing care to her and also offered us so much support as a family. Thanks to them, our young children have had a good experience of what death is like and we can’t thank them enough for that.

“We’ll be dedicating a pink and white ‘Remember Me’ rose in memory of our lovely mum and as a thank you to Prospect Hospice for the care they provide free of charge to this community.”
