Renowned auctioneer and BBC Bargain Hunt stalwart, Thomas Forrester, is set to ignite excitement with a captivating fundraising auction for the Corn Exchange Newbury’s Old Library campaign this autumn.
The antique expert will regale attendees with tales from his illustrious career, offering insights into the intriguing world of antiques and his experiences on the small screen.
With a wealth of experience as Director of Special Auction Services in Newbury, Forrester is poised to provide invaluable knowledge on the antiques market, shedding light on current trends and memorable anecdotes from his time in the industry. From memorable sales to quirky collectables, Forrester’s anecdotes promise to captivate audiences.
All proceeds from the event will contribute towards the restoration of the historic Old Library in Newbury, which will serve as a vibrant hub for creative engagement under the auspices of the Corn Exchange. The reopening of this cherished venue aims to enrich the community with the transformative power of the arts, fostering creativity and inclusivity for all.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate actively in the evening by bringing along small antiques or collectables for appraisal. Lucky individuals will be selected to join Forrester on stage, sharing the stories behind their cherished items before receiving a live valuation.
The fundraising initiative aims to raise £2.6 million for the restoration project, with generous support already provided by various trusts and organisations. The public phase of the campaign is underway, rallying support to fulfill the vision of a revitalized Old Library that meets the diverse creative needs of the Newbury community.
Jessica Jhundoo-Evans, Director of Corn Exchange Newbury & 101 Outdoor Arts, expressed enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing its potential to positively impact the community through increased creative engagement.
