Police are appealing for witnesses after six people were injured, including one who suffered a serious facial injury, during disorder at a pub in Swindon.
At around 11pm last night on Sunday evening police were called to The Manor pub on Cheney Manor Road.
Shortly after the end of England’s football match against Italy, a group of people became aggressive and violent.
A man in his 50s suffered a serious facial injury and is due to undergo surgery. Five others were less-seriously injured.
Officers attended and carried out a thorough search of the area, but at this stage nobody has been arrested and our enquiries are ongoing.
Det Sgt Scott Anger, from Swindon CID, said: “Our enquiries are at an early stage but this seems to be unprovoked, mindless violence by a group of people who were looking to cause trouble.
“The pub and the garden were naturally busy, due to the football, and although we have already spoken to a number of witnesses, we would urge anyone who was there who has not yet spoken to an officer to call us.
“We also believe there may be video footage of all or part of the incident, which may show the suspects, so if you have a copy of this, then please pass it on to us.”
