The event unfolded as each year group took turns racing around the ‘green mile,’ weaving through the school field and venturing into Noremarsh Park before triumphantly crossing the finish line.

The route was adorned with volunteers from RWBA and the local community, along with families and dedicated school staff. The afternoon saw Year 2 students from Wootton Bassett Infants School also join Noremarsh for an afternoon of active fun.

As participants reached the finish line, they were greeted with high-fives from those who had already completed the course. The emphasis was on inclusion, with children running, hopping, skipping, or walking – the key was everyone taking part.

The culmination of the event featured a ceremony to applaud the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. Each 2nd and 3rd place child received a frisbee, and the 1st place achievers proudly donned their exclusive Noremarsh “winners” t-shirts. All children received a healthy snack at the end and were really pleased to have their achievements recognised.

Hilary Macmeekin, Noremarsh Headteacher, ecommented “It’s important for us to create a close-knit community with our local schools and parents, we also know keeping active is important and it is a valued part of our school curriculum.

“By combining those two we are able to provide exciting and engaging outdoor opportunities for all to enjoy. The fun run is a favourite among the children, which is why we aim to annually organise the event.”

“The sponsorship money is expected to reach over £700 and will be used to provide Noremarsh children with access to visitors and trips to enhance the school curriculum.”
