Online retailer Boohoo have confirmed they have bought the last remaining Arcadia brands out of administration, Dorothy Perkins, Burton and Wallis, for £25million.
The sale is for “the e-commerce and digital assets and associated intellectual property rights, including customer data, related business information and inventory of the Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis brands” and does not does not include any of their 214 UK stores, putting another 2,450 jobs at risk.
Commenting on purchase, the Boohoo chief executive, John Lyttle, said: “Acquiring these well known brands in British fashion out of administration ensures their heritage is sustained, while our investment aims to transform them into brands that are fit for the current market environment.
“We have a successful track record of integrating British heritage fashion brands on to our proven multibrand platform, and we are looking forward to bringing these brands on board.”
The deal comes just a few weeks after Boohoo announced they had bought the Debenhams brand for £55million, another deal that did not include any of the retailer high street sites, leading to the loss of around 12,000 jobs.
Online retailer Asos announced they had bought Arcadia brands Topshop, Topman and Miss Selfridge last week for £330million and Arcadia’s only other brand, Evans, was sold to the Australian retailer City Chic Collective for £23million in December.
All of these Arcadia brands had already closed their Town Centre locations in Swindon and were operating from the Outfit store at the Orbital retail park, that location had already been earmarked for closure before the latest sale to Boohoo.
