Embark on a magical journey through treasured tales as Longleat welcomes back the enchanting Festival of Light, illuminating the estate with more life-size lanterns than ever before. Running until 7th January 2024, this iconic lantern festival promises to transport visitors straight into the heart of beloved childhood stories.
The UK’s original and finest lantern festival, the Festival of Light, invites guests to rediscover cherished stories amidst a breathtaking display of 1,500 life-size lanterns. Journey through fantasy worlds inspired by timeless tales, from the Emerald City to Never-Never-Land. Marvel at the artistry behind bespoke lanterns, some towering over 15 metres high, depicting scenes from classics like The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Snow White, The Wizard of Oz, and Winnie the Pooh.

This year’s festivities extend beyond the lanterns, with a new Christmas Market area, the mesmerising 15-metre Enchanted Christmas Tree show, and the beloved Santa Train. As darkness falls, a captivating light show bathes Longleat House in a magical glow, culminating in a fountain display on the lake.
In addition to the enchanting lanterns, visitors can come face to face with Aslan, the majestic king of the lions, and explore Longleat’s Safari Park to encounter a pride of big cats and a variety of exotic animals.
