In order to facilitate the Whalebridge Improvement scheme, Swindon Borough Council has announced a temporary closure of Corporation Street between Fleming Way and Manchester Road.
This closure will be in effect from 14th August, starting at 07:30, until 30th November, ending at 16:30.
Emergency access will be maintained throughout the closure period.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, diversions will be in place, directing vehicles via Fleming Way, County Road, and Manchester Road.
The Whalebridge Improvement scheme aims to enhance the infrastructure and overall experience for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists in the area.
By temporarily closing Corporation Street, the contractors can carry out the necessary construction work which will include widening the western end of Corporation Street (into the Kimmerfields site), introducing new cycle lane facilities that link Fleming Way to the Eastern Flyer route, and building access roads into the new Kimmerfields development.
During the closure, it is advisable for motorists to plan their journeys accordingly, allowing extra time for potential diversions and traffic congestion. Local residents and businesses are encouraged to stay updated on any further announcements or changes related to the closure.
