Christ Church with St Mary’s is thrilled to announce the momentous occasion of celebrating the 25th anniversary of Reverend Simon Stevenette’s dedicated service as the vicar of Christ Church.
Reverend Simon invites friends, congregation members, and the community to join in the festivities commemorating this remarkable milestone.
Morning Prayer at Holy Rood on the Lawn will take place on Friday 6th October 6th at 9:00 AM.
On this special day, reminiscent of the 6th of October 1998 when Reverend Simon first embarked on his journey as vicar, a morning prayer session will be held at Holy Rood on the Lawn, the ancient parish church of Swindon Old Town. All are cordially invited to come together for this spiritually enriching experience.
Service of Thanksgiving will be on Friday 6th October 6th at 7:30 PM at Christ Church with St Mary’s, Cricklade Street.
In the evening, there will be a gathering at Christ Church with St Mary’s to hold a heartfelt Service of Thanksgiving, celebrating the incredible ministry of Reverend Simon Stevenette over the past 25 years. This service promises to be a poignant and uplifting tribute to his unwavering commitment to our community.
Following the service, a reception will be hosted, offering a chance for everyone to share memories, stories, and well-wishes with Reverend Simon and his wife, Nicola. Everyone is welcome to this joyous occasion, however, please kindly RSVP to the parish office by Friday 29th September.
The Service of Thanksgiving will be enhanced by the participation of the Partnership choir, the musical talents of Tim Eyles on the organ, and the melodious offerings of the Toast music group. We are also honoured to have Reverend Geoffrey Gleed delivering the sermon.
For those unable to attend in person, the service will also be live-streamed on our YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2gxkx7FTXk
There will also be a remarkable display of celebration with a full peal of bells at the CC Tower on Friday. This auditory spectacle will echo throughout the town, underscoring the significance of this anniversary.
A celebration service with Holy Communion will take place on Sunday 8th October 8th at 10:00 AM where you are invited to join a special Celebration Service with Holy Communion presided over by Reverend Canon Simon Stevenette. This service will be a culminating moment of reflection and gratitude for his dedicated service to the congregation.
The church look forward to the presence of friends, congregation members, and the entire community to come together to honour Reverend Simon Stevenette’s extraordinary 25-year ministry at Christ Church with St Mary’s.
