Swindon Borough Council has this week launched a three-week public consultation exercise to see whether there is support for implementing a pilot 20mph speed limit zone in a number of residential areas.
In response to the council’s call for proposals for potential 20mph speed limits across the Borough, local ward councillors nominated areas they felt would benefit from a reduction in the road speed.
The proposals seek to introduce a 20mph speed limit, replacing the existing 30mph speed limit on the residential roads in:
- Delamere Drive (Stratton)
- Wanborough (The Beanlands)
- Rodbourne Green
- Abbey View (Moredon)
- Old Shaw Lane
- Queensfield (Stratton)
These proposed schemes are intended to decrease the probability of accidents and ensure that in the event of a collision, fatalities or serious injuries are unlikely to occur.

The consultation will run until Friday, 2 June 2023.
