BBC News are today reporting that Honda is set to announce the closure of the Swindon plant as early as tomorrow morning.

It is expected the car manufacturer will close the Swindon factory in 2022.

Honda currently employs around 3,500 staff and produces more than 100,000 Civic cars in Swindon which are shipped worldwide.

North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson, called the decision a major jolt for Swindon.

He said: “Myself and Robert (Buckland) have already been in detailed discussions with Honda directly and the Business Secretary.

“We will be doing everything within our power to support all of the staff at both Honda and throughout the supply chain.”

More information as we get it.
