WOMAD, the World of Music, Arts and Dance, has unveiled an exciting lineup of global artists set to grace the picturesque landscape of Charlton Park from Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th July 2024. The festival promises an eclectic mix of talent spanning every genre imaginable, from R&B to hip-hop, rock to folk, and everything in-between.
Among the highly anticipated acts making their WOMAD debut are progressive hip-hop trio Young Fathers [UK], known for their unique and modern sound; Sampa The Great [Zambia], a rising star in southern Africa’s hip-hop scene; and the legendary Alison Goldfrapp [UK], who will be showcasing her latest solo album.

Returning to the WOMAD stage are musical icons such as Amadou and Mariam [Mali], acclaimed for their swinging blues, and Baaba Maal [Senegal], whose commanding vocals have earned him international acclaim. Also making a triumphant return are Gogol Bordello [USA], known for their high-energy performances, and DAM [Palestine], whose music explores a wide range of hard-hitting topics.
Joining the lineup from across the pond are acts like The 79rs Gang [USA], blending New Orleans jazz with hip-hop, and indie-rock innovators Deerhoof [USA], known for their frenetic psychedelia.
From South America, audiences can look forward to the euphoric sounds of Bala Desejo [Brazil] and the enchanting vocals of iLe [Puerto Rico]. And representing Africa are acts like Yungchen Lhamo [Tibet], known for her haunting melodies, and The Zawose Queens [Tanzania], carrying on the musical legacy of Hukwe Zawose.
But WOMAD isn’t just about music; it’s a celebration of arts and culture from around the world. Festival-goers can expect a wide array of activities including talks, workshops, and performances at the World of Words, the Physics Pavilion, and the World of Wellbeing. And for the little ones, the World of Children offers a plethora of child-friendly activities and workshops.
With such a diverse lineup and array of activities, WOMAD 2024 promises to be an unforgettable experience for music lovers and culture enthusiasts alike. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the world at Charlton Park this July!
