Wharf Green’s Big TV Screen to Be Replaced with Exciting Artsite Project

Originally commissioned by the BBC in 2008, the big screen at Wharf Green was set to provide a source of entertainment and community engagement, showcasing a range of content to bring people together in a shared experience.

However, as technology evolved, the screen’s usage very quickly diminished, leading to its current state of disuse.

Recognising the need for revitalisation, Swindon Borough Council has joined forces with Artsite, a renowned local organisation dedicated to promoting arts and culture in the local area.

The Artsite project aims to transform the area into a thriving hub of artistic expression and community engagement. By infusing the space with an innovative and visually stunning artwork, the teams at Artsite and Swindon Borough Council seek to create an environment that inspires and captivates visitors.

The removal of the big screen signifies a new beginning for the area with the hope that  Wharf Green will once again become a welcoming place where people can gather, appreciate art and get involved with the many artistic projects the town has to offer..
