South Swindon Parish Council has announced a fresh programme of comedy, music and heritage events set to take place in Town Gardens as part of this year’s expanding Old Town Festival fringe.
The line-up will see the popular Town Gardens Bowl once again transformed into an outdoor entertainment venue, with events aimed at audiences ranging from comedy fans to young families.
John Firmin said the council was pleased to once again support the festival programme.
“South Swindon Parish are delighted to be part of the Old Town Festival once again,” he said.
“The comedy night at the Bowl is becoming an annual favourite and we have music events for children and Mumford & Sons fans. Our popular heritage tour of Town Gardens is running as well, so there truly is something for everyone to enjoy.”
The programme begins on 31 May with Comedy at the Bowl, hosted by Old Town Comedy Club and headlined by comedian Sara Pascoe.
Music fans can then enjoy The Mumford and Sons Story on 5 June, celebrating the rise and music of the chart-topping folk-rock band.
Families are also catered for with Music for Miniatures: Up in the Air on 7 June, a relaxed live music event aimed at younger children.
The same day will also feature the return of the Town Gardens Heritage Tour, offering visitors the chance to explore the history and stories behind one of Swindon’s best-loved green spaces.
The events form part of the wider Old Town Festival programme, which continues to grow with performances and activities taking place across multiple venues throughout the area.
