Are mobile phones and portable technology a blessing or a curse? As we spend more and more time grafted to phones and social networks our personas enter an electronic world of information. How can we keep ourselves safe? How aware of the real and electronic worlds are we? These are subjects explored by a brand new play by REACH Inclusive Arts and Partners Theatre Company.
‘Trip Wire’ follows Stacey Hawkes on a school visit to France where she is separated from the rest of her class and embarks on an adventure to find her school mates. What follows is a fascinating analysis of the real and online worlds as Stacey strides over land and sea, using her mobile phone to help find her friends, yet finding herself in dangerous situations and missing opportunities to find her school group along the way.
The play is a mix of dance, theatre and a flurry of striking images and sounds. A giant tablet device is the centre piece of the performance with the actors magically entering the digital world throughout the play.
The play is performed by a dedicated group of performers from Partners Theatre Company and produced by Reach Inclusive Arts, which is a charity that works with disabled people and those who have used mental health services to create professionally facilitated original theatre performances and art.
The play is currently on its autumn tour of Schools across Wiltshire and will return to Swindon for a public performance on Friday 14th October at 7pm, in the Town Hall in Swindon.
Trip Wire is innovative and thought provoking and well worth watching!
