Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre has cause for celebration as last year’s enchanting pantomime, Cinderella, has been nominated for two prestigious UK Pantomime Association Awards.
The much-loved production, which delighted audiences throughout the festive season, sees actor Ben Goffe recognised in the Best Comic category for his heartwarming and hilarious portrayal of Buttons. Alongside him, the dynamic duo of Eleanor Burke and Sophie Hirst, who played the delightfully wicked stepsisters, have been nominated for Best Sisters.
Cinderella, sponsored by local independent travel agency Swindon Travel Hub, was a standout success, featuring Coronation Street’s Lisa George as the Fairy Godmother and Swindon’s favourite dame, David Ashley. Critics heaped praise upon the show, describing it as ‘a sparkling, family-friendly extravaganza’ filled with ‘hilarity, heart, and a touch of Christmas magic.’ A particular highlight was the breathtaking flying horse and carriage sequence, which transported Cinderella to the ball in a truly show-stopping moment.
In light of this exciting news, the Wyvern Theatre has also confirmed that tickets are now on sale for this year’s pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, which will run from 6th December 2025 to 4th January 2026. With a star-studded cast yet to be revealed, the production promises to be another dazzling festive treat.
Presented once again by Imagine Theatre—who are themselves nominated for eleven awards across ten categories—Sleeping Beauty is set to deliver all the traditional pantomime ingredients audiences love, from laughter and adventure to spectacular scenery and dazzling costumes.
Laura James, Theatre Director at the Wyvern, shared her delight: ‘We are so thrilled to see Ben, Eleanor, and Sophie recognised for their wonderful performances in Cinderella. We are also incredibly excited to announce Sleeping Beauty as this year’s pantomime. After the success of Cinderella, we can’t wait to welcome audiences back for more festive magic and fun. The Wyvern panto is the perfect way to create special memories with loved ones.’
Audiences can expect a spellbinding tale of adventure as the wicked fairy Carabosse casts a sinister curse on the princess, sending her into an enchanted sleep. But can true love’s kiss break the spell before it’s too late?
Tickets are already selling fast, so families are encouraged to book early to secure the best seats at the best prices.
