Swindon based indie pop band Talk In Code are due to play a charity gig at The Victoria in Old Town Swindon on Thursday 19th September in support of Mfor organiser Graham Stobbs’ Kayak Challenge which will raise money for a Veteran’s Hub in Swindon.
The four-piece, who recently opened the main stage at Swindon’s Mfor Festival, playing alongside such established names as Years & Years, Ella Eyre, Toploader and Phats & Small are thrilled to be supporting this charity to create a hub in Swindon for veterans and their families.
Singer Chris Stevens said “we were honoured to open the main stage at Mfor Festival, being recommended by BBC Introducing in the West and we wanted to thank Graham Stobbs and the Mfor team by giving something back. The Swindon veteran’s hub will give ex-servicemen in the area access to vital services such as rehabilitation and counselling, and a place where they can just have a chat with fellow ex-servicemen and women. We feel this is a vital service that Swindon needs and playing this charity gig is also our way of saying a big thank you to the people of Swindon for supporting Talk In Code over the past year.”
Ex-serviceman Graham is embarking on a 222-mile kayak challenge from Dungeness in Kent to Northern France in May, finishing up at Pegasus Bridge memorial near Caen for D-Day (June 6) to lay a wreath, finishing at Pointe Du Hòc,
Tickets for the gig are £5 on the door with all proceeds going to the Swindon Veterans Hub Charity, and support comes from Chippenham based Laissez Faire and Swindon based The Falmouths.
Talk In Code released their second album, RESOLVE, in December 2018 and have recently recorded two new tracks at Studio 91 in Newbury after a string of thirteen successful festival appearances over the summer including Mfor and Wychwood Festivals. Their new single is due for release in the Autumn.
