Families looking for ways to make the most of the summer holidays will find plenty to enjoy at the Town Gardens Bowl, where a packed programme of live entertainment promises fun for all ages.
Set within one of Swindon’s best-loved green spaces, the historic open-air venue will stage six family-friendly events over two weeks, bringing together comedy, theatre, music, magic, ballet and professional wrestling as part of its 90th anniversary season.
The programme reflects South Swindon Parish Council’s commitment to making live entertainment more accessible, with reduced family ticket prices helping more people enjoy a day out during the school holidays.
Magic takes centre stage on Tuesday, 28 July, when The Great Baldini: The Family Magic Show combines sleight of hand, comedy and audience participation in an afternoon designed to delight younger audiences.
The following day sees Rock The Tots: Summer Party! fill the Bowl with live music, bubbles, puppets and interactive fun for babies, toddlers and young children.
Families can then discover the fascinating world beneath their feet with The Mushroom Show on Thursday, 30 July. Created by the award-winning Scratchworks Theatre, the production blends science, storytelling, music and imaginative play in a unique theatrical adventure.
Action replaces fairy tales on Saturday, 1 August, as KAPOW Wrestling returns with an afternoon of colourful characters, dramatic contests and family-friendly sporting entertainment.
The programme concludes on Sunday, 2 August, with Alice in Wonderland: The Ballet, an outdoor production bringing Lewis Carroll’s classic story to life through dance, featuring familiar characters including the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts.

“We’re delighted to be offering such a varied programme this summer, with something to entertain children of all ages – whether that’s comedy, music, theatre, magic, ballet or wrestling. We hope families from across Swindon and beyond will join us for what promises to be a fantastic summer at one of the town’s most unique outdoor venues.”
The programme has been made even more affordable through reduced family ticket prices as part of the Government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative, with some children’s tickets available from just £3.50.
Since opening in 1936, the Town Gardens Bowl has remained one of the country’s few surviving historic open-air performance venues, continuing to provide a distinctive setting for music, theatre and community events in the heart of Swindon.
