Renowned Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert is set to embark on an extensive new comedy tour that will encompass over 100 shows across the United Kingdom and Ireland throughout 2024 and 2025, exclaiming, “After the year I’ve had, it’s wonderful to be alive.”
This beloved comedian will grace Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre stage in January 2024 as part of the aptly named “Rhod Gilbert and the Giant Grapefruit.”
For those eager to secure their seats, presale tickets for “Rhod Gilbert and the Giant Grapefruit” will be up for grabs starting at 10 am on Wednesday, September 27th.
General ticket sales will commence just two days later at 10 am on Friday, September 29th. Tickets can be obtained via the official website, rhodgilbertcomedian.com, and through Ticketmaster.
Rhod’s previous tour, “The Book of John,” achieved resounding success and garnered acclaim from both audiences and critics. Kicking off in 2019, it took an arduous four years to conclude, with multiple interruptions due to the onset of the Covid pandemic in April 2020. Additionally, during the tour’s resumption, Rhod was confronted with a cancer diagnosis in 2022, compelling him to endure rigorous treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.
Earlier this month, the comedian expressed profound gratitude to the NHS and the Velindre Cancer Centre for their support.
Rhod’s triumphant recovery has seen him return to the stage this year, culminating in the completion of “The Book of John” tour and the filming of a new series for Comedy Central’s “Growing Pains.” Furthermore, he is set to lead an expedition to Morocco’s Mount Toubkal in October.
In announcing this momentous tour, Rhod enthused, “After the year I’ve had, it’s wonderful to be alive and going back on the road.
“I can’t wait to get back on stage and I’m prepared to delve into life’s recent highs and lows, sometimes even taking a dive into the darker, yet humorous side of it. When life throws lemons your way, you’ve got to squeeze them until the comedic juices flow, so brace yourselves for some dark yet side-splitting content.”
Rhod Gilbert will be playing at The Wyvern Theatre – 24th January 2024.
