A weekend of live entertainment is lined up at Swindon’s Town Gardens Bowl, with music on Saturday evening followed by open-air comedy theatre on Sunday.
The outdoor venue in Old Town will host Seriously Collins on Saturday, 4 July, before The Pantaloons Theatre Company brings its comic production The (Almost) Complete History of Britain to the stage the following afternoon.
Saturday’s performance features Seriously Collins, a tribute show celebrating the music of Phil Collins and Genesis. Rather than focusing on impersonation, the production aims to recreate the sound and atmosphere of the band’s biggest hits, including In the Air Tonight, Easy Lover, Sussudio and Against All Odds, alongside a selection of Genesis classics.
The following day, audiences can expect a very different performance as The Pantaloons return with their comic take on British history.
The (Almost) Complete History of Britain compresses centuries of monarchs, battles and historical events into a two-hour production, combining comedy, live music and audience participation in the company’s trademark fast-moving style.
The show covers everything from Henry VIII to the Spanish Armada, presenting familiar historical events with a distinctly tongue-in-cheek approach.
Both performances will take place in the open-air surroundings of Town Gardens Bowl, one of Swindon’s best-known outdoor venues.
Audience members are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or low-backed chairs for the performances.
