Throughout June, Mams Gallery will be hosting ‘Antidote’ the latest series of work by local artist, Harrie Dearing.
As well as featuring original pieces from collections, such as The Raw Armoury, Disordered, Insomnia Abstracts and Expressionist Tales, Harrie will also be creating work live at the gallery with musician, Gary Bamford. The collaboration will explore the interconnection of art and music in a series of live improvised sessions.
“We hope to create something really interesting live in the space, so visitors can experience the development of new music and art first-hand. As an artist and theatre maker, I have always been interested in the relationship between different art forms and working with Gary will push both our creative practices into new directions. At the beginning of each session, we really have no idea how the work will unfold, and the finished pieces are as much as a surprise to the audience as they are us!” said Harrie.
Harrie, who specialises in highly immersive and expressionist paintings is based in Swindon, and this will be her first public exhibition since galleries have reopened.
“After such a challenging year, I wanted this exhibition to explore the transformative and healing power of art, for both artist and audience. Amidst our increasingly turbulent world of overwhelming pressures, for me, art has certainly been an antidote and my hope is that others might feel a cathartic connection with the work too.”
‘Antidote’ will be open to the public until June 30th at Mams Gallery in Swindon, with live events held throughout the month. For more information visit: www.mamsgallery.co.uk/harrie-dearing
