Looking Good Dead at Wyvern Theatre – Review

Live theatre is back at the Wyvern Theatre with the visit of Peter James, Looking Good Dead.

The second book in Peter James’ Roy Grace detective series and the novel to be brought to the stage, following on from The House on Cold Hill, Not Dead Enough, The Perfect Murder and Dead Simple.

Adam Woodyatt (Eastenders) takes centre stage as debt-ridden business man Tom Bryce – alongside Gaynor Faye (Emmerdale) as secret alcoholic wife Kellie and Luke Ward-Williamson as son Max.

Your Holiday Starts Now

Tom comes home one day with a memory stick he found on a train and being the good citizen he is wants to try and return it to its rightful owner. With help from Max he finds his way through the memory sticks security and witnesses something truly shocking.

Eventually, the incident is reported to the police which inadvertently puts the family in grave danger.

Staging was simple but well thought out and although it took a few scenes for the actors to warm up – a knock on effect of being away from the stage for so long I’m sure – the pace eventually picked up and the strong cast had me invested into trying to figure out the ending, wrongly a couple of times I must add, with many twists and turns before the final reveal.

If you are after an evening of light-hearted entertainment and dad jokes then get yourself down to the Wyvern Theatre.

Looking Good Dead is on until Saturday 25th September and tickets are available here.
