I was lucky enough to be invited along to the Built by Barn Season production for The Importance of Being Earnest, so crossed the border into Gloucestershire and made my way to Cirencester to find The Barn Theatre.
The Importance of Being Earnest is certainly one of Oscar Wilde’s most loved and well known plays, that follows two male leads Algernon and Jack, who it would seem live double lives. This is a tale of marriage, love and mistaken identity all set in Victorian times.

The Barn theatre never do things nice and easy though, and this rendition directed by Bryan Hodgson is no different.
As only two cast members remain following a bus breakdown, Ryan Bennett and Aidan Harkins, take us through the story at break neck speed, playing all parts resulting in a hilarious and energetic show, with costume changes that left me feeling quite tired on their behalf!
If you want to be entertained and have a jolly good laugh, pack your handbag and go and see it – for Judy!
