Disco isn’t dead, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. No, it’s just picked up more sophisticated ways, hung out with some seductive soul, took on a few funky grooves, and allied itself with the slickest, uptown nightclub moves. And the result is songs such as this new one from Brett Schieber.
Ahead of a new album, he sends out New Life to test the water and tease the audience, a song of shifting moods, ebbing and flowing between calm and considered verses and explosive, euphoric choruses.
It is the soundtrack to new beginnings, fresh starts and putting the past behind you, and if it heralds in a time even half as enticing and exciting as the sound that he makes here, then that new life is going to be good. Very good indeed.
