Taking a neat R&B groove, the sort of soul licks and intricate guitar work that Nile Rodgers would be proud to have put his name to and adding them to pulsating funk grooves and no small amount of pop infectiousness, Brett Schieber already has something tasteful and addictive going on here before he adds the vocals.
These come courtesy of Canadian soul sensation Témi and UK rapper and producer RakJay, who add their own distinct flavours to it in the form of smooth, seductive singing and salvos of deft and direct wordplay.
The result is a modern slice of dancefloor groove, a great piece of cross-genre dance creativity. But more than that, it reminds us that the world is becoming ever smaller and genre and geography are no longer barriers to collaboration, which means that songs such as In The Air will become the norm, not the exception. How great is that?
