100,000 people vaccinated across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire

Latest figures from the NHS confirm more than 100,000 people across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire have received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Swindonians who are aged between 70 and 79, along with the clinically extremely vulnerable, are now being contacted to receive the vaccine.

As more people become vaccinated, the invite list will be widened to take in more of the top four priority categories as set out by the JCVI.

With the opening of the The Avicenna Pharmacy as a coronavirus vaccine centre alongside the larger vaccination centres currently located at STEAM, GWH, it is hoped the number of vaccinations offered will increase at a faster pace.

Angela Mavalla, Lead Pharmacist at Avicenna Pharmacy, said: “I’d urge everyone who is invited to have the vaccine to take up the offer, and I really look forward to seeing many familiar faces come through our doors to receive their vaccine.”
