The joint venture between Network Rail and the Council to refurbish the footbridge linking Sandgate to Griffiths Close in Stratton has begun.
To make the bridge compliant for the overhead electrification, the bridge has new sides which are higher than before to ensure the public are safe from the overhead lines.
Network Rail’s contractor AMCO, are due to complete the work and open the bridge in June.
