Swindon Town Secure Loan Signing of Norwich City Goalkeeper Daniel Barden

Swindon Town have bolstered their squad again today with the loan signing of goalkeeper Daniel Barden from Championship side Norwich City, pending approval from the EFL.

The 23-year-old, who has previously featured in the Championship for Norwich, brings a wealth of experience from his various loan spells, including stints at Bury Town, Livingston, and Maidstone United.

Barden’s career has seen him make several senior appearances across the EFL and National League, as well as in prestigious cup competitions such as the FA Cup, EFL Cup, and EFL Trophy. Additionally, the Welsh shot-stopper has represented his country at youth level, including a call-up to the Wales U21 squad in 2021 where he played against the Republic of Ireland.

Barden joins Swindon Town with a clear goal in mind—competing with the club’s current number one, Jack Bycroft, for a starting position. His arrival adds depth to the team’s goalkeeping options and provides a fresh challenge for the existing squad.

Upon signing, Barden shared his enthusiasm about the move: “I’m really excited to be here. It all happened quite quickly, but I’m eager to get started and contribute to the team. After speaking with the Head Coach and Goalkeeping Coach, this felt like the right step in my career. I’m here to push for that number one spot in the league.”

Swindon Town’s Head of Football, Jamie Russell, expressed his confidence in Barden’s abilities: “Dan brings valuable Championship experience, which is exactly what we’re looking for. His mental resilience and determination are key attributes that will fit well with our squad. We believe he will offer the right level of competition within our goalkeeping setup.”

Russell also acknowledged the efforts of First-Team Goalkeeping Coach Steve Mildenhall in securing the signing, noting that Barden was identified early on as an ideal candidate to strengthen the team.

As Swindon Town’s latest summer signing, fans will be eager to see how Daniel Barden performs and whether he can make the impact necessary to claim the number one spot.
