Swindon Town’s wait to be crowned champions delayed by further 24 hours

The EFL’s extraordinary general meeting of their 71 clubs has been pushed back by 24 hours and will now take place on Tuesday, June 9th.

League Two clubs have already indicated the wish to end the current campaign with final positions decided on a points-per-game basis,. a decision that will see Swindon jump from second place to lift the tite.

Clubs in the Championship have already agreed to resume playing again from June 20th but clubs in League One have yet to reach a decision over what to do next.

The EGM had been scheduled for Monday, June 8 but will now take place 24 hours later to give the clubs a little more time to make their minds up on which way to vote.

A short EFL statement on Wednesday evening read: The EFL Board met today and considered a number of proposals submitted by EFL clubs in respect of proposed amendments to EFL regulations in order to determine what will happen in the event the 2019/20 season is curtailed in any EFL division.

This now brings an end to a comprehensive consultation phase and clubs have today received formal notice of the meeting which will now take place on Tuesday 9, June 2020.
