There’s a fresh sense of optimism in the air as Swindon Town’s 2025/26 League Two fixtures have been unveiled, and the Robins faithful will be hoping this is the season that finally sees the club mount a serious push for promotion.
The new campaign begins on Saturday 2nd August with an away trip to Walsall, one of several fixtures scheduled for a traditional 3pm kick-off and broadcast live via Sky Sports+. It’s a testing opener, but one that Ian Holloway’s side will be relishing as they look to lay down an early marker.
Town’s first home game of the season comes the following weekend, Saturday 9th August, when Cambridge United visit the Nigel Eady County Ground, setting the stage for Swindon to make their intentions clear in front of the home faithful.
Festive Fixtures: One for the Calendar
Christmas and New Year always throw up a few juicy ties, and this year is no different. Town will be at home on Saturday 20th December to face Crawley Town before travelling to MK Dons on Boxing Day — always a fixture with a lively atmosphere.
There’s little rest over the festive period, as Swindon then make the short trip to Cheltenham Town just three days later on Monday 29th December. The busy schedule continues into the new year, with a New Year’s Day fixture at home to Gillingham followed swiftly by a long haul up to Harrogate Town on Sunday 4th January.
The Return of a Local Rivalry
Perhaps one of the most anticipated match-ups of the season is the return of the Bristol Rovers fixture to the league calendar. It’s been several years since Swindon and Rovers last faced each other in league competition, and this season the rivalry is renewed.
Swindon will make the short trip to the Memorial Stadium on Saturday 13th December, before welcoming the Gas back to the County Ground on Saturday 28th February. With both clubs eyeing strong campaigns, these fixtures promise passion, noise, and – hopefully – points for Town.
Final Push
The final away day of the season sees Swindon head to the east coast to take on Grimsby Town at Blundell Park on Saturday 25th April — a ground that could play host to a crucial result depending on the shape of the table at that stage.
The regular season will conclude with a home tie on Saturday 2nd May, as Chesterfield make the trip to Wiltshire. With any luck, fans will be celebrating more than just a final whistle.
Home Comforts & Away Days
For those looking to plan their away days, the closest league fixture this season is just down the road at Cheltenham Town — a local derby with plenty of bragging rights at stake. At the other end of the spectrum, the trek to Harrogate Town on 4th January is the furthest journey for Swindon’s loyal away following, clocking in at over 180 miles.
With key match-ups, local rivalries, and promotion hopes on the line, the 2025/26 fixture list has laid the path. Now it’s up to the team to make the journey a successful one.
