Swindon Town Secure Midfielder James Ball on Two-Year Deal

Swindon Town have confirmed the signing of midfielder James Ball on a two-year contract, pending approval from the English Football League.

The 29-year-old arrives at the County Ground after a solid season with the Dons, where he featured 36 times and netted four goals from midfield. Renowned for his physicality, relentless work rate, and leadership on the pitch, Ball is expected to bring valuable experience and adaptability to Swindon’s midfield as they aim to push for promotion.

Ball’s football journey began in the youth setups at Bolton Wanderers and Stockport County, before moving on to senior spells at clubs such as Stevenage, Solihull Moors, and Rochdale. His move to Swindon marks a new chapter, with the midfielder keen to make an impact in League Two.

Speaking about his move, Ball said: “I’m buzzing to join a club with the ambition and fanbase of Swindon Town. I can’t wait to get started, meet the lads, and get out on the pitch to show what I can do. I’m here to help the team push up the table and fight for promotion.”

He added: “I had a phone call with the Manager last week, and he sold Swindon to me. He told me about his ambitions for the club this season and the project for the future, and I could see the improvement when he took over last season and his influence was massive. If we look at Swindon in terms of form and how they performed at the back end of last season, then there’s no better place to be.”

Swindon supporters will be eager to see Ball in action when pre-season matches begin later this summer.
