Swindon Town Welcomes Jimmy Shan as Assistant Head Coach

Swindon Town Football Club has today announced the addition of experienced coach Jimmy Shan to their backroom staff.

Shan, renowned for his tenure with clubs such as West Bromwich Albion and Huddersfield Town, steps into the role of assistant first-team coach, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the club.

The 45-year-old tactician arrives at Swindon from Championship outfit Huddersfield Town, where he served as a first-team coach earlier in the season. Now, Shan embarks on a new chapter with Swindon, set to contribute his skills and insight for the remaining fixtures of the 23/24 campaign.

Shan’s coaching journey began at Birmingham City’s Academy before ascending through the ranks at West Bromwich Albion, where he worked extensively with various age groups. His tenure culminated in a stint as caretaker manager at the Hawthorns, showcasing his leadership capabilities on the touchline.

Following his departure from West Brom, Shan ventured into managerial roles, including an interim position at Kidderminster Harriers and a managerial stint at Solihull Moors. His most recent role saw him at Sheffield Wednesday, where he played a pivotal role in securing promotion via the play-offs in the 2022-23 season.

Reflecting on his new appointment, Shan expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am delighted to be on board with Swindon Town. The lads seem like a real good bunch, and I am looking forward to getting started here.”

Head of Football, Jamie Russell, hailed Shan’s appointment, emphasising his invaluable experience within the EFL and his ability to offer support and guidance to the team during the crucial final fixtures of the season. Russell highlighted Shan’s familiarity with the level of competition and his understanding of the game, underscoring the significance of his addition to the coaching setup.
