ZACH Wajtknecht has welcomed the prospect of extra meetings as Swindon Sprockets continue their National Trophy quest against Isle of Wight at Blunsdon on Thursday (7.30).
Lee Kilby’s side will be looking to build on the 47-43 victory over the Warriors, a fixture that saw number one and Premiership reserve Wajtknecht rack up 12 points
The 19-year-old Bristolian has made a strong start in the third tier with Lakeside Hammers and wants to seize the opportunity to race as much as possible following an injury-plagued 2016.
“I am still looking out for guest bookings in the Championship and up for more meetings whenever I can, maybe even another team spot,” said Wajtknecht.
“We’ll have to see how it goes, it is not too busy and not too quiet at the moment but I’ll keep an open mind.”
On his form, he added: “I have had some good results. Stepping up to the Premiership helps you at National League standard, the one thing I want to work on is first bends and that will help at this level.
“I have everything set to the same standard now. The engines are good and I have found something I like, everything is the same, there is no changing anything throughout the season and it has been working.”
Sprockets track a full one-to-seven for the meeting with the Warriors set for a double boost at the top of their order.
Number one Ben Wilson has been declared fit to ride with heat leader Nathan Greaves also available despite recently joining Ipswich. The visitors will run rider replacement for Tyler Govier.
Sprockets: Zach Wajtknecht, David Wallinger, Dan Greenwood, Tom Woolley, Darryl Ritchings, Layne Cupitt, Lewis Whitmore.
Isle of Wight: Ben Wilson, R/R for Tyler Govier, James Cockle, Chris Widman, Nathan Greaves, Jamie Sealey, Ben Woodhull.
