Swindon boss Alun Rossiter urged his misfiring lower middle order to “come to the party” ahead of one of the Premiership’s most daunting tasks – Wolverhampton away on Monday (7.30).
The Carpets 4 Less Robins have rocked some of the big guns in their own backyard in 2017 with victory at Poole and Friday’s creditable point at Belle Vue.
Rosco’s boys have taken something from all four road trips to date but the Monmore Green circuit is notoriously difficult for visiting riders to navigate.
And after the scorecard in Manchester had a familiar look to it, Rossiter warned his side that contributions would need to come from every quarter with the club assessing its options.
“Jason, Nick and David have been performing, we just need the other boys to step up,” said Rossiter. “The middle order needs to come to the party now.
“We have been saddled with some high averages so we’re stuck at the moment but we will look at it in the near future. For now, we have to try to get the best out of everyone to give them all a fair chance.
“Wolverhampton will be a tough nut to crack. They have made some shrewd moves and have been riding exceptionally well, particularly at home, but we should travel with confidence after the trip to Belle Vue.
“Just because they have been blitzing everyone, we should not be worrying otherwise we could be beaten before we leave. It is a case of going there with a strong mindset where we hold our own and see where that takes us.”
Like Friday, Robins will operate rider replacement for Bradley Wilson-Dean who continues to be hampered by a hand injury. The full extent of the injury Wilson-Dean picked up on Thursday is still being assessed but Rossiter anticipates being without the New Zealander for approximately two weeks.
