Robins can now confirm the signing of hugely popular Aussie ace Nick Morris.
Rider of the Year in last season’s Premiership title glory, Morris will assume top spot in the Swindon side for the defence of their title.
And it’s going to be a busy year as he has also been snapped up to ride in the Second Division with Lakeside Hammers.
Speaking from Australia in the early hours of UK time, he said: “I’m really pleased to be back at Swindon.
“Obviously I’m disappointed it had to happen the way it did with Jason (Doyle) leaving.
“However, I’m excited for the new challenge of the No.1 spot and leading the team.”
Boss Alun Rossiter said: “Nick really got his career back on track last season and I thought he was tremendous.
“We are all delighted to welcome him back next season. I think the various permutations we have in mind give us a great chance of challenging again.
“I’ve known Nick and his family a long time and I’ve got a lot of time for them all and I thought he rode brilliantly last season.
“I still think there’s more to come from the boy too. He’s still young enough and has the desire and ambition to go a lot further in the sport.
“He only has to look at Jason (Doyle) and what he’s achieved after all these years in the UK and there’s no reason why Nick can’t draw inspiration from that and push forward for the very top level of the sport.
“Now our team jigsaw is falling into place we are really excited about the new season with the aim of having a right good go at defending that title.”
