Swindon captain Jason Doyle is the joint Speedway World Championship Series leader – despite riding in Saturday’s Danish Grand Prix with three broken bones in his foot.
The Aussie ace had an operation at the start of the week to have several screws and plates inserted into his foot and even hobbled on crutches up and down the pits between races.
But he battled through on the track to reach a fifth consecutive Grand Final in Horsens in a stunning show of grit and determination.
He secured 15 points from seven rides, moving him onto 65 in total, and is level on points at the top of the standings with Polish star Patryk Dudek.
