Swindon Women’s Aid, operating locally as Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service (SDASS), has been awarded a £30,000 grant by the Zurich Community Trust.
The funding will support the charity’s work addressing the root causes of domestic abuse throughout the coming year. This generous grant is part of the Zurich Community Trust’s ongoing commitment to supporting SDASS as one of its local charity partners, chosen by Zurich UK employees based in Swindon.
This marks the third instalment of Zurich’s current partnership with SDASS. The funding will not only cover essential costs for the charity, but also help sustain preventative programmes aimed at breaking the cycle of abuse. These initiatives include work with children and young people in schools, as well as the Open2Change programme, which engages individuals who display harmful behaviours, helping them to re-educate and reduce the likelihood of re-offending.
Kate Rowland, Training and Business Development Manager at SDASS, expressed her gratitude: “We’re delighted to have received this grant from Zurich Community Trust. This ongoing support, now in its third year, reflects the recognition by Zurich employees of the crucial work we do. The preventative work with Swindon’s young people is life-changing, teaching them about healthy relationships and building resilience for the future. Our ultimate goal is to stop domestic abuse at its source by helping those who use unhealthy behaviours to change.”
Laurie Deans, Head of Zurich Community Trust, added: “We are thrilled to continue supporting Swindon Women’s Aid for a third year. Our multi-year partnerships ensure stability for our charity partners, allowing them to focus on their important work. Domestic abuse is a priority for Zurich employees, as shown by their votes in support of SDASS, and we’re proud to play a part in tackling this vital issue in the Swindon community.”
