The motivation behind their enthusiastic efforts stems from their desire to honour the memory of their friend and colleague, Tim Blythe, who bravely battled soft tissue cancer for eight years before succumbing to the disease in 2021.

Ralph Hawkins, the Managing Director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, expressed, “Throughout Tim’s illness, he was grateful for the care he received from Sarcoma UK, and we wanted to continue to support the charity in his memory. To have raised more than £40,000 over the past year is a terrific achievement and one that will help Sarcoma UK fund vital research, campaign for better treatments, and support people in our communities affected by Sarcoma and other uncommon cancers.”

Kerry Reeves-Kneip, the Director of Fundraising and Communications at Sarcoma UK, extended gratitude to the team at Barratt David Wilson Homes South West for their generous contributions in honour of their friend and colleague. She emphasised the significance of such donations, as around 15 people in the UK are diagnosed with sarcoma every day. The funds raised will play a crucial role in providing vital research, information, and support to those affected by the disease. Sarcoma UK, as an organisation, relies solely on the generosity of voluntary donations and the relentless efforts of fundraisers and supporters.

The cancer charity provides a free Sarcoma UK Support Line, available for anyone affected by sarcoma. Individuals can reach out for support by calling the confidential Sarcoma UK Support Line on 0808 801 0401 (Monday to Friday, 10 am to 3 pm), emailing supportline@sarcoma.org.uk, or texting 07860 058830 to speak with a specialist adviser.
