Community groups and residents across Wiltshire are being encouraged to put forward local projects for a new funding scheme offering cash support to grassroots initiatives.
Home care provider Caremark has launched its Community Care Fund, with three £3,000 grants available nationwide to support ideas that make a tangible difference at a local level.
The scheme is open to nominations from individuals, community organisations and not-for-profits, with organisers keen to cast the net widely. Projects could range from improving shared spaces — such as parks or community centres — to supporting clubs, early years settings or small charities in need of equipment or refurbishment.
The emphasis, Caremark says, is on practical impact rather than scale. Any initiative will be considered, provided it delivers a clear benefit to the community it serves.
Entries require only a short description of the project and how the funding would be used, along with a supporting photograph. From there, one finalist will be selected from each of the company’s 12 UK regions before going forward to a public vote to determine the overall winners.
David Glover said the aim is to highlight the value of smaller, often overlooked projects.
“Local initiatives can have a powerful effect on people’s lives,” he said. “This fund is about giving communities a voice and helping those ideas access support that can make a real difference.”
The competition is open to UK residents aged 18 and over, with nominations closing at the end of the month.
For Wiltshire groups with ideas waiting in the wings, it offers a straightforward opportunity — modest funding, perhaps, but with the potential to go a long way.
