Many Swindonians had prepared to be pounding the streets of London today but even the 2020 London Marathon could not outrun the dreaded coronavirus.
This years event looks very different to the usual spectacle with only elite runners taking part in a 26.2 mile run around St James’ Park.
For the thousands of amateur runners that would have taken part they will be able to do their run locally but still take part in the virtual race through the London Marathon app.

The 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon is set to take place on Sunday, October 3rd. Already moved from the usual April date to try and get the event on.
Is the 2021 London Marathon ballot still open?
The ballot for the 2021 London Marathon is still open, with UK entrants able to apply online.
The closing date for applications for the 2021 London Marathon is 5pm on Friday, October 9th 2020. Successful ballot entries will be announced in January.
