It has been a morning of celebration at UTC Swindon as Year 11 students collected their GCSE and Level 2 technical qualification results.
The town’s specialist STEM-focused school, which caters for students aged 14 to 19, combines core subjects with a strong focus on engineering, digital and cyber security. Its approach is rooted in hands-on learning, designed to mirror the world of work and provide pupils with practical skills that set them apart.
This year’s results reflect continued progress across the board, with students achieving well in both academic and technical subjects. Many are now looking ahead to their next steps, whether that be further study or entering the workplace.
A number of pupils will remain at UTC Swindon to continue their studies at Sixth Form, choosing from pathways in Engineering, Cyber and Computer Science. Others have secured apprenticeships with major employers including Network Rail, while some will be progressing into further education elsewhere.
Headteacher Hollie Taylor paid tribute to the efforts of staff and students alike, saying:
“A massive well done to our Year 11 students for all their hard work and commitment over the past two years. We wish the very best to those embarking on apprenticeships or college, and we look forward to welcoming back those joining our Sixth Form in September.”
As well as their studies, students have also benefited from UTC Swindon’s network of employer partners. Working with industry experts has given them valuable insights into careers and a clear sense of how their skills can be applied in real-world settings.
Support for students does not end on results day, with the school continuing to provide advice and guidance for those still considering their options.
