In what promises to be a highlight of Swindon’s summer, UkraineFest is set to return to Town Gardens in Old Town on Saturday 23rd August 2025.
Organised by Swindon Welcomes Ukraine, this vibrant event will once again unite Swindon’s communities in a stirring display of solidarity with Ukraine, all under the fitting theme “Stand With Us”.
Coinciding with the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, UkraineFest 2025 will offer both Ukrainians and local residents a unique opportunity to come together and celebrate freedom, culture, and resilience.
UkraineFest has grown into one of the largest Ukrainian cultural festivals in the country, with last year’s event attracting more than 4,000 visitors from across Swindon and beyond. The festival receives crucial support from Swindon Borough Council’s Warm Welcome team, who have been instrumental in helping over 500 Ukrainians settle in Swindon through the Homes for Ukraine scheme since 2022.
This year’s festivities will be bigger and better than ever, featuring a full day of performances from headline acts, Ukrainian bands, dance troupes, choirs, and traditional folk ensembles. A dedicated children’s area will offer workshops in Ukrainian crafts, ensuring there’s something for every age to enjoy.
Festivalgoers will have the chance to sample a rich array of authentic Ukrainian dishes, including steaming bowls of borscht, delicate varenyky dumplings, sweet pastries, and Ukrainian-style barbecued meats. Meanwhile, artisan stalls will sell traditional embroidery, crafts, and souvenirs, allowing attendees to support Ukrainian artists directly.
Anastasiia Banatska, Chair of Swindon Welcomes Ukraine, said: “UkraineFest isn’t just a festival – it’s an invitation for everyone to stand with us, learn about Ukraine, and show their support. Holding the event just before Ukraine’s Independence Day makes it even more special.”
Vice-Chair Kris Taikowski added: “We’re planning our biggest event yet, with headline performers and more activities than ever. UkraineFest 2025 will be a day for Swindon to come together, celebrate Ukrainian culture, and share hope.”
