Workers at Swindon’s MINI plant are set to walk out as the argument about pensions continue.
Members of Unite union will walk out of the plant for five separate 24 hour periods in the coming weeks in response to BMW’s plans to close the final salary pension scheme following an overwhelming show of support in the latest vote by workers across the car makers four UK sites.
Twenty-four hour strikes will take place on Wednesday, April 19, Sunday, April 23, Tuesday, May 16, Thursday, May 18 and Sunday, May 21.
BMW’s plans to close the final salary pension scheme is expected to hit some workers by over £160,000 in retirement.
