Swindon Theatregoers are in for a treat this October as Pleading Stupidity, the high-energy comedy that wowed audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe, comes to town.
Brought to you by Maybe You Like It, this fast-paced show tells the unbelievable true story of two young Australians who thought robbing a bank during their gap year was a great idea – only to leave their name tags on, take selfies with the stolen cash, and get caught within eight minutes. Yes, this actually happened.
Fresh from a sold-out run at The Pleasance during the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe, Maybe You Like It’s Pleading Stupidity is embarking on a UK tour, bringing its chaotic humour to new audiences. Known for creating collaborative, high-energy shows that blend theatre and comedy, Maybe You Like It has a knack for exploring the art of storytelling in an accessible and comedic way. Through their stage performances, audio shows, and podcasts, they aim to entertain while asking deeper questions about the narratives we create and how they shape the stories we tell.
Co-creator Ellie Iley said, “Chad and Brad were on their gap year, and they were bored. We’ve all been there. The only difference is, most of us don’t rob a bank with our work name tags still on.”
