Wiltshire Police officers were called to Nova Hreod Academy in Swindon this morning (16 September) after the school received a threatening phone call.
As a precaution, pupils and staff were evacuated while officers searched the premises.
A suspect has since been identified and will be dealt with appropriately.
Superintendent Paul Saunders said:
“When calls of this nature are made, police rightly treat them as a legitimate concern until it can be determined that there is no credible threat or risk to life.
Hoax calls can have a significant impact on emergency services, businesses, and the public. Such mindless actions disrupt our infrastructure and result in considerable financial costs. They also cause widespread concern and fear within the local community.
If you are found to be causing the wasteful deployment of emergency services, you could face a substantial fine or even imprisonment.”
Wiltshire Police also confirmed they received a separate report of a threat made to Devizes School today. The two incidents are not believed to be connected.
