The teams behind Barratt Homes Bristol, David Wilson Homes South West, and the Wichelstowe Joint Venture have launched a month-long food donation campaign in support of the Swindon Food Collective.
The initiative, which began on National Food Bank Day (6th September), will see workers on the Wichelstowe development site donate food throughout September. The collection will culminate in a large donation to the charity at the end of the month.

The Wichelstowe teams have a history of supporting the Swindon Food Collective, going beyond simple donations to meet the charity’s expanding needs. Last year, a team of carpenters from the Wichelstowe development designed and constructed a new storeroom for the charity, ensuring it could continue to provide food to hundreds of local families during increasingly difficult times.
Daniel Pavely, Project Director at Wichelstowe, expressed his pride in the initiative, saying, “Our teams have always supported local charities, and the work done by the Swindon Food Collective is very close to our hearts. As the cost-of-living crisis continues, charities like the Swindon Food Collective are more vital than ever. We are proud to help and hope our combined efforts will relieve some pressure on the charity so that no family in our community has to go without.”
The Swindon Food Collective has witnessed a sharp rise in demand for its services. From April 2023 to March 2024, the charity fed over 10,350 people through its 11 distribution centres, located in areas such as Lyneham, Highworth, and Freshbrook.
This latest donation drive coincides with the ongoing Wichelstowe development, a project spearheaded by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes in partnership with Swindon Borough Council. Set to deliver 3,000 homes over 20 years, the development will feature schools, community facilities, and extensive open spaces, providing residents with nature trails, playing pitches, and allotments.
As the community grows, so too does the commitment of the Wichelstowe team to give back to the area they are helping to build. With a new phase at Canalside set to launch in early 2025, potential buyers can register their interest via the developers’ websites, with details available for both Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes developments.
