Uber has announced its seventh consecutive year of offering free rides and meals to NHS and care workers during the Christmas holidays.
This initiative aims to support and uplift those who tirelessly serve our communities, ensuring that they can navigate the festive season with ease.
Eligible NHS and HSC workers, identified through their dedicated email addresses, will have the opportunity to claim two complimentary £10 Uber rides to and from work throughout the festive period. Additionally, they can enjoy a £10 voucher for meal or grocery deliveries via Uber Eats.
To take up this generous offer, NHS staff need to link their Uber accounts to their NHS email addresses. Subsequently, a unique promo code will be sent to their accounts, which they can apply to claim the rides and meal delivery benefits.
This year, Uber has collaborated with health media personalities, professionals, and influencers to amplify awareness of the initiative. The goal is to support NHS workers who may face transportation challenges during the festive period and provide them with delicious meals when conventional food options might be limited due to shop and canteen closures. Uber and Uber Eats codes can be redeemed for journeys and orders on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Dr Alex George, well-known TV personality and healthcare professional, expressed his support, saying, “Having spent time on the ward myself, I’ve seen firsthand how relentlessly those in the healthcare sector work over the festive period. It’s great to be able to give back to those who give the most.”
Andrew Brem, General Manager at Uber UK, added, “Uber wants to ensure travel and food aren’t a worry for [NHS workers] over Christmas, while they work.”
As the promotion goes live, eligible users will receive a promo code via email, seamlessly integrating the offer into the upfront price visible when requesting a trip.
