Two Teenagers Arrested After Knifepoint Robbery in Swindon

Two teenagers have been arrested following a reported knifepoint robbery at Croft Playing Fields in Swindon.

Wiltshire Police said the incident took place at approximately 4.25pm on Wednesday, when a 16-year-old boy was at the park with his electric bike.

According to police, the teenager had placed his bike on the ground while playing football when he was approached by two males who demanded he hand it over. During the confrontation, one of the suspects allegedly pulled a knife from his waistband and pointed it at the victim.

The victim sustained an injury to his hand during the altercation.

Two 16-year-old boys have since been arrested. One has been arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of a Class B drug and dangerous driving. He has been released on conditional bail.

The second has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon and remains in custody for questioning.

Inspector Jamie Brown described the incident as distressing for the victim.

“This was a frightening ordeal for the victim who had put his bike on the ground whilst he played football, only to notice two males coming towards him and making threats for him to hand over the bike,” he said.

“Thanks to the swift response of our officers, two individuals were quickly arrested as part of our ongoing investigation.

“We are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information that could assist our enquiries.”
