Swindon Borough Council has announced overnight resurfacing works on two key roads in North Swindon. Tadpole Lane and Thamesdown Drive are set to undergo significant maintenance next week, prompting temporary closures and diversions.
Starting on Tuesday, 25th June, Tadpole Lane will be closed for four nights between the Oakhurst Way roundabout and the Swindon and Cricklade Railway. The closures will commence at 6pm each evening to facilitate the replacement of the deteriorating road surface. Despite the closures, access will be granted to local residents and emergency services.
Following the nightly completion of works on Tadpole Lane, the traffic management will shift to Thamesdown Drive. Here, the north-eastbound carriageway between the Taw Hill and Redhouse Way junctions will also be resurfaced. Additionally, road markings will be repainted and gullies and drains cleared as part of the comprehensive maintenance efforts. Thamesdown Drive will be reopened to traffic by 6am each morning.
Diversion signs will be strategically placed to guide motorists throughout the duration of the works. This resurfacing project is a part of Swindon Borough Council’s annual major roads maintenance programme, aimed at ensuring the town’s roads remain in optimal condition.
For residents and commuters, these improvements signal a commitment to maintaining high standards for road safety and quality. Patience and cooperation during these necessary disruptions will be appreciated.
